| Berwickshire Community Councils' Forum's main objective is to improve
communications between community councils, local and national government and
other bodies by facilitating debate on matters of common interest, such as
the local environment and community development, and by encouraging the
exchange of ideas and news between community councils.
In practical terms we invite speakers, to
disseminate good practice, and distribute background papers, while also
encouraging responses to all manner of consultation papers. We also form ad
hoc sub-groups to deal with particular matters on behalf of the Forum.
Membership is drawn from the communities that comprise the former county of
Berwickshire, which since 1995 has been subsumed within Scottish Borders
Council and is retained as a planning/administrative area of the local
authority. Most activities are conducted within the same area although the
group has a broader remit in representing members at Borders-wide fora.
